The League Of Regrettable Superheroes
The League Of Regrettable Superheroes

You know about Batman, Superman, and Spiderman, but have you heard of Doll Man, Doctor Hormone, or Spider Queen? In The League of Regrettable Superheroes, you’ll meet one hundred of the strangest superheroes ever to see print, complete with backstories, vintage art, and colorful commentary. So prepare yourself for such not-ready-for-prime-time heroes as Bee Man (Batman, but with bees), the Clown (circus-themed crimebuster), the Eye (a giant, floating eyeball; just accept it), and many other oddballs and oddities. Drawing on the entire history of the medium, The League of Regrettable Superheroes will appeal to die-hard comics fans, casual comics readers, and anyone who enjoys peering into the stranger corners of pop culture.

Justice League Of America 173
Justice League Of America #173

At Green Arrow’s recommendation, Black Lightning is considered as a prospective Justice League member but the other heroes disagree on his admittance. Meanwhile, a new super-villain surfaces in the person of The Regulator, a former research scientist who has the power to command armies of rats and other vermin. Unaware of the threat he poses, the Justice League continues with its test of Black Lightning’s abilities. Disguised as villains, they battle him while Superman serves as judge of his initiation. Although he passes the test, Black Lightning declines to join the team, claiming prior responsibilities to his solo career.

World’s Finest #146

While Batman visits Superman’s Fortress of Solitude, Superman observes five minutes of silence in Krypton’s memory. Pictures of Krypton stir Batman’s memory of his childhood. He remembers certain places on Krypton that Superman has never revealed to him. He also recalls flying on Earth. Batman believes that he too may be from Krypton.   Investigation of the mystery leads Batman to Dr. Thomas Ellison, a friend of his father. Bruce finds photographs in Ellison’s possession which confirm his suspicions. Ellison also withholds a secret belief that he caused Krypton’s destruction. Superman follows Batman to Ellison’s home, where the Caped Crusader is attempting to learn the truth. Ellison explains that using a telescope, he observed Krypton prior to the planet’s destruction. Toddler Bruce Wayne who lived next door to Ellison also observed Krypton. Ellison taught Bruce Kryptonian lore and using wires made it appear that Bruce could fly, accounting for Bruce’s memories. Ellison also observed that a reaction was building inside Krypton. He attempted to stop it using a neutralizing ray, but instead the device accelerated Krypton’s destruction. Superman is angered over the revelation. He uses a time-scope to force Ellison to watch his parents die. While watching, Superman and Ellison both see Jor-EL and Lara monitoring Krypton’s impending doom. Jor-EL detects Ellison’s intervention, but observes that the neutralizing ray has no effect. Krypton then explodes. Ellison’s conscious is finally cleared after learning that he was not responsible for destroying Krypton. Superman apologizes for his anger and thanks Ellison for attempting to save his world.

Super-Team Family 1

Super-Team Family is an comic book anthology series published by DC Comics from 1975 to 1978 that lasted for fifteen issues. The series published a mix of original and reprinted stories.  Due to time constraints, the first issue was a reprint issue.  Reprinted stories include: World’s Finest #175 Superman and Jimmy Olsen square off against Batman and Robin in an annual duel of wits competition, while the Superman Revenge Squad and the brand-new Batman Revenge Squad intend to use the contest to wipe both teams out.; Teen Titans #19 – His plan to defeat the Justice League mocked by Headmaster Mind, an old JLA foe, Punch, a teenage would-be super-villain, vows to prove himself by destroying the Teen Titans first. Speedy rejoins the Titans, and he and Wonder Girl are captured by Punch when they investigate racial riots at a New England high school. At the same time, Robin, Kid Flash, and Aqualad are defeated by high-frequency sound and light devices while on a mission to a midwestern community. Reunited as Punch’s prisoners, the Titans use teamwork to escape his traps and overcome the youthful villain and his followers. Afterward; Aqualad returns to Atlantis for an extended leave, ostensibly in order to look after the infant Aquababy while Aquaman is involved in a quest for his missing wife, Mera, and Speedy becomes Aqualad’s replacement among the Titans.; Flash #166 – The Flash sprains his ankle badly during a rescue attempt and is placed on crutches, after which he encounters Captain Cold and Heat Wave.

The Maharajah of Sinsubhani brings Superman a rare alien jewel which is capable of great destructive force. Superman is unable to destroy the jewel, and the evil organization known as Demon seeks to possess it. Superman protects the jewel from Demon despite several attacks from their forces. When Demon holds Lois and Jimmy hostage, he allows himself to be captured.  Superman is brought before the leader of Demon and forced to turn over the jewel. Fortunately the leader is an imposter. It is really Prince Krishna, the son of the Maharajah. Krishna has discovered the way to destroy the jewel and does so. He had infiltrated Demon solely for that purpose. With the jewel destroyed, Lois and Jimmy are released.
