  2. I’ve been a fan of Kristin Wells since I first read Elliot S! Maggin’s novel, Miracle Monday back in 1981 or so. In fact, I re-read that novel every year during the month of May. When DC Comics Presents Annual #2 appeared, I was thrilled to see Kristin appear in an actual comic book, written by Mr. Maggin, no less! I regard Elliot S! Maggin as one of the very best writers of Superman comics in the Bronze Age.

You mentioned the Louis G. Cowen Building, housing the School of Journalism at Columbia University in Kristin Wells’ 29th Century. There is no logical reason for Kristin, a history professor, to be teaching in a journalism building, so my guess is that Elliot S! Maggin included that as one of his sly references (what is often today called an “Easter Egg”). Maggin, himself, attended the School of Journalism at Columbia.

Sadly, although this issue and the eventual DC Comics Presents Annual #4 make references to Superwoman’s other adventures, and King Kosmos, we never really learn much of those. In fact, if I recall correctly, King Kosmos doesn’t appear again after this issue.

Thanks for bringing back some fond memories of a favorite character as well as of a favorite writer.
