This time out, we’ll be getting into DC Comics Presents #70. The show starts with some Listener Feedback and I give an update for Facebook Page Likes and I-Tunes Rating. (and I grovel for more email, comments and I-Tunes Reviews) After that, we move on to everyone’s favorite segment; Russell’s Comic Brag, where I get to talk about another comic purchase. Then, we have a Spotlight on Superman’s Guests, The Metal Men. Next, we will delve into our issue, DC Comics Presents #70. Then, we take a trip to the Comic Spinner Rack. The show closes on a cliffhanger!

Well, this story was a bit of a muddle, I think. I wonder if things around DC were sort of “up in the air” with Crisis on Infinite Earths being in the planning (or early production) stage at this point. Whatever the reason, there were elements in this one that didn’t really fit with established continuity of the time, particularly the odd effect of the red sun radiation on Superman’s powers. I don’t think his so-called “secondary powers” would be affected, but not his “main powers”. It’s not as if Superman would have had any powers at all under Krypton’s red sun, but maybe I’m just nit-picking. Later, it’s not clear how Superman knows they’re in a kind of “virtual reality” environment, but the Metal Men, with their robotic brains and senses, don’t know that, nor is Brisbane’s setting off a nuclear explosion really dealt with.
Ah, well, even though I really like the DC Comics Presents series overall, I guess they can’t all be gems.
